Weekly Research – Week 2

Three years after the initial release of Destiny 1, Destiny 2 is far different from it’s predecessor. A common complaint of Destiny 1 was the lack of story and the repeated play. Multiple missions consisted of the same layout over and over; find a certain object, defend it while it’s analysed, and boom – rewards. Besides solo campaign missions, there was also competitive multiplayer, co-op strikes which are longer, more difficult missions, and raids which are even longer missions with incredible bosses and painstaking puzzles. The majority of the game was based around team work and puzzle solving where some times those lines blur. In Destiny 2, the teamwork aspect has been dialed up to 11. Certain factors have been changed in the multiplayer to make cooperative fighting more prevalent and required in the game. The soon to be released raid in Destiny 2 will also amplify the need for teamwork among fire-team members for teams up to six. Teamwork is the main source of reward in the game whereas the best rewards come from the modes with the most amount of teamwork needed.
