Dragon Age: Origins is the first game in Bioware’s critically acclaimed Dragon Age series. It is a tactical RPG that concerns itself heavily with the player’s choices in order to shape the overall narrative. It follows the story of a player character who is drafted into a legendary order known as the Grey Wardens in order to a race of abominations called Darkspawn. What the player does (as in, who they side with, who lives and who dies, etc.) not only matters during the course of the game, it also carries over into future installments in the series, as the player is able to import a save file into the other games and see how their choices affected the overall world. The game is also known for its memorable companions who react and modify their opinion of the player character based on their decisions. Features like these are essential to both Bioware’s Dragon Age and Mass Effect series, creating a high level of player involvement and conscientiousness in their desicions during play.
