Nancy Drew: The Ghost of Thornton Hall already has your ethos established from the start: you’re Nancy Drew…acclaimed teenage detective. The rest of the game prompts you to live up to that ethos through critical thinking, problem-solving, and keen observation skills. By assuming the role of Nancy Drew from the start, the ultimate goal is to find out who is haunting Thornton Hall and find the missing bride-to-be. The game needs you to be active and productive at all times; every puzzle, conversation, and in-game text serves a purpose. The best way to solve the mystery is to take note of everything. When I first started playing this gaming series when I was in elementary school, I would create sheets of notes. Anything I saw I wrote down because I needed to remember it all. This helped me beat the earlier games. As I got more well-versed in these games, I relied less and less on my note-taking and more on my learned abilities and experiences from previous game play. These games prompted me to be more observant, showing me the importance of observation skills.
