Lin, Yu-Ling, and Lin, Hong-Wen. “A Study on the Goal Value for Massively Multiplayer Online Role-playing Games Players.” Computers in Human Behavior6 (2011): 2153-160. Web.
This study contains participants who enjoy playing MMORPG’s. It analyzes what they value about these types of online gaming the most, and how these aspects benefit the gaming world economically. Most of the participants gain fulfillment out of the social interaction aspect of MMORPG’s. They enjoy creating relationships through the gaming community and benefit from them immensely. This also causes players to want to spend more time playing a specified MMORPG, because they look forward to talking with their online friends, and escaping from the real world and people they necessarily can’t connect with throughout their day in the real world.
